Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

What would you believe? That some alien from outer space will save you? That some government will rescue you from danger? This way is pure folly! Can you not see what is happening around you? Lies, deceit, treachery, mistreatment of the poor and of widows. Why not then seek something that can truly save? Jesus Christ is this salvation.

Like the woman, the Samaritan at the well, Jesus knows us. He knows who we are and what we’ve done, and though many of us have done things in our lives we are not proud of, He tells us to drink of His living water, for He says to the woman, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” John 4:10 All we must do is ask to receive His spiritual gifts and He will give them. Why then do we not ask from our Creator, our God, and yes, the Son of the living God, Jesus Christ.

In our own journey we too may come upon a time when we are thirsty and in need of the living water of Christ and spiritual bread, the nourishment for the soul and Christ tells us that “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24 Therefore, when He says that He is “the way, the truth, and the life,” John 14:6, then it is only right to look to Him who would nourish us and guide us in the truth.

Again, we can look to Jesus’ instruction to the Apostle Peter, when He tells him to “Feed my sheep.” John 21:17 Some may ask “What is this spiritual nourishment that He speaks of?" The answer Jesus gives us is clear, “Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to accomplish His work.’” John 4:34

We can ourselves look to do God’s will and honor Him with all that we are, to follow His commandments and love our neighbors as ourselves, and to remember that He is always with us if we just give Him our time, seek His presence in our lives constantly so that we may become nourished for our own spiritual journey in this life. Blessed be God forever!

Yours in Christ,

Br. M.
